The addition of insulin did not affect motility, sperm viability, the percentage of abnormal cells, the osmotic resistance or the degradation rate of motility in 120 minutes. Insulin used was NPH-human, added at the time of processing the doses. The experimental unit was made of two insemination doses of 100 mL each, with 3×10(9) spermatozoids. The experiment used sixteen ejaculates from four commercial breeding pigs, distributed in a randomized block design (ejaculate) with split plot along time (0, 24, 48 and 72 hours of storage) with four treatments (insulin levels - 0.0 4.0 8.0 and 12.0 IU per dose) and 16 repetitions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding different doses of insulin to swine semen processed and stored at 15 ✬. , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil About the authors , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Luciano José Pereira , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Bruno Generoso Faria , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Luiz Gustavo Pessoa Rocha , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Bárbara Azevedo Pereira , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Douglas Evangelista Braga , Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Luis David Solis Murgas Sci.17(11): 1501-1508., Universidade Federal de Lavras, Departamento de Medicina Veterinária, Brazil Márcio Gilberto Zangeronimo 2004, Effect of extender and temperatures on sperm viability and fertility capacity of harbin white boar semen during long-term liquid storage.J Asian-Aus Anim. In conclusion : BTS ® diluent is an appropriate diluent used to maintaining semen quality of landrace boars quality during preservasion.īearden, HJ., Fuquay, JW, Willard ST. The results showed that the liquid semen of landrace boar were stored at a temperature of 28 ☌ is better results temperature with the percentage motility of sperm 54.50% during 38 hours and temperature of 5 ☌ showed the second best result with the percentage of 46.32% motility during 36 hours of storage in the diluent BTS®. The result showed that fresh semen characteristic were good, with the presentage of sperm motility 85% with sperm concentration 242.50 ☑6.5% and morphological abnormality 12.50☑.70%. Sperm motility and viability were evaluated every 2 hours until 40% motility were evaluated. Good quality semen have motility >70%, sperm concentration 200 x 10 6 sperm/ml and morphological abnormality less than 20%, these semen were added with diluent commercial is diluent BTS ® and MIII ®. Semen Characteristic and their quality were evaluated macroscopically and microscopically. Semen was collected twice a week from landrace boars. This experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatment and 4 replications. The objective of this study was to determine the the effect diluent of commercial is diluent BTS ® and MIII ® in maintaining sperm motility and viability of landrace boars during storage at different temperatures at refrigerator (5 ☌), AC (28 ☌) and room temperature (32 ☌).
